The PTR 51P – 7.62×51mm Pistol is the original, stand-alone pistol configuration in the PTR 51-series lineup. Sold at the point of sale without a stock or brace installed, the 51P establishes the foundation for the 51P family while maintaining pistol classification. It is engineered to deliver compact rifle-caliber performance with traditional PTR ergonomics.

The platform operates using PTR’s proven roller-delayed blowback system, producing a smooth recoil impulse and consistent cycling with full-power .308 Win. (7.62×51mm) ammunition. A heat-treated, full-auto profile bolt carrier supports long-term durability and sustained operation. The semi-automatic action is host-ready for use with NFA-registered auto sear packs where legally applicable. The overall finish consists of black powder coating over Parkerizing for corrosion resistance and wear protection.

The 8.5″ stress-relieved, heavy-contour barrel features a 1:10″ right-hand twist and is threaded 5/8×24, supporting common muzzle devices. A 7.5″ steel Picatinny rail provides optic mounting capability without altering the traditional polymer handguard configuration, preserving classic PTR handling characteristics.

Measuring approximately 23.5″ in overall length and weighing 7.9 lbs unloaded, the 51P feeds from 20-round aluminum magazines. The trigger pull is set between 9–10 lbs for consistent operation. Each pistol ships in a polymer case with foam padding and includes one magazine and a cable lock.

Within the PTR lineup, the 51P occupies the base pistol configuration in 7.62×51mm, serving as the core platform from which braced and short-barreled rifle variants are derived.
