Configured with a 16.5” barrel, M-LOK® handguard, and Picatinny top rail, the PTR 63 offers flexibility in optics, accessories, and magazine compatibility while maintaining the durability and reliability associated with PTR roller-delayed platforms. It is engineered for users who want a 5.56 rifle with familiar AR interface options, without abandoning the advantages of a roller-delayed system.
- Product Description
Product Description
The PTR 63 – 5.56×45mm Rifle is a modern interpretation of the roller-delayed blowback platform, chambered in 5.56×45mm / .223 Remington and configured for versatility, durability, and compatibility with common AR accessories. Sold as a semi-automatic rifle at the point of sale, the PTR 63 combines PTR’s legacy operating system with contemporary ergonomic features to support a wide range of applications.
At the core of the rifle is a 16.5” barrel with a 1:7” right-hand twist, optimized for modern 5.56 projectile weights. The barrel is threaded 1/2×28, allowing compatibility with common muzzle devices. The roller-delayed operating system provides smoother recoil impulse and reduced bolt speed compared to traditional gas-operated designs. The nitride heat-treated, tungsten dead-blow weighted full-auto profile bolt carrier enhances durability and promotes consistent cycling. The action is host-ready for NFA-registered auto sear packs where legally applicable.
The PTR 63 features an AR trigger grip housing, allowing the use of standard AR-pattern grips and controls, simplifying user familiarity and aftermarket compatibility. A 7” steel Picatinny rail supports optic mounting, while the PTR HG7 mil-spec anodized aluminum handguard with M-LOK® compatibility provides modular attachment for accessories. Finished in a durable black powder coat over Parkerizing, the rifle is built for long-term use in demanding conditions.
With an unloaded weight of approximately 8.5 lbs and an overall length of 38.5”, the PTR 63 balances stability with practical handling. Within the PTR lineup, it represents a modern, 5.56-caliber roller-delayed rifle designed for users seeking AR-compatible ergonomics paired with a proven operating system.

When will this become available? I have a PTR 601 CT and a G3 clone PTR but would love to own the PTR 63
Bobby acsell –
When can I buy one!!! I’m in heaven!!!!
Rudy Ferguson –
Yeah, I want one.
Brian L. –
Sign me up. However the 9 to 10 lb. trigger is a non-starter for me. Just give me a mil-spec AR trigger. I understand that original HK rifles have heavy triggers, but at least offer another option.
Chris Lambert –
Been waiting for PTR to roll out a 5.56 heck yes!! Way to go PTR. Can’t wait to be firing off rounds on my range with one.
Gavin jameson –
I’ve owned since you offered the ptr 91 fr my gun has shocked me with the accuracy and functionality over the years but with the price of bullets this is a genius move and something different in the industry look forward to a release date the wife is on board.
Anthony –
Love to see a PTR in 5.56 that takes AR mags! I hope to see a HK93 clone in the future as well!
Buck Thomas –
Come on guys, let’s get these to market already.
Also, please do everything you can to start getting hammer forged barrels in your entire line.

Any updates on this? This is the 5.56 that I have been waiting for. I’m not a fan of ARs. I wanted to like them, but haven’t been able to.
David Mora –
Please drop it !!!!
James Recoy –
Will there be a shorter version of this be available? Say a 8.5 or even a 10.5 inch version, If so sign me up, love the idea of a shorty 556 hk type pistol .

Bring one out for the restricted states please. California with that stupid sail grip before they restrict us to black powder only.
Ill-take-2 –
Have 7 Ptr 91s…. will convert all AR15s to PTR63s
Chad –
When will this come out… waiting for over a year to buy this…
Scott –
Glad to see a STANAG compliant version. But I really want a G3 clone in 5.56.So, what’s going on with the butt stock? it looks like it melted in an oven and got dropped. Then re-straightened, badly.
Sig Sauer learned thier lesson with the 556 domestic release. Learn that lesson.
Get the butt stock, grip and fore-grip right, then I will be interested.
